Clash Detection

A 3D rendering of the network in PLS CADD, similar to the one used to detect obstructive vegetation, is utilized again to determine insulator heights, span length, span clearances and sag. This process is optimized by targeting analysis towards long spans — spans that extend beyond a designated length and are longer than average. Clash detection analysis such as this is a crucial step in preventing instances of voltage sparks and ensuring network integrity in various weather conditions.

Span Clearance

Span clearance analysis can be performed to determine the clearance for conductors at the lowest sag point along a span. Targeted analyses such as this are done with streamlined models of the distribution network - created by importing lidar data in PLS-CADD, the industry standard for powerline modeling.

Analyses like span clearance can be run for an entire data set or focused on areas of interest, such as spans that extend beyond a designated length.

Wildfire Mitigation

We combine precise lidar, high resolution aerial imagery, and geospatial data to produce a unique yet powerful solution to wildfire mitigation efforts in the utility industry. The three part approach includes providing an efficient method for evaluating structural integrity of individual assets, as well as clearance analyses to prevent vegetation encroachment and wire clash.
